Brake Evaluation Engineer (Zaventem)

The Technical Centre is the location for Toyota Motor Europe's Research & Development (R&D), Purchasing and Production Engineering (PE) functions. From there Toyota ensures its cars match European customer's demands. R&D undertakes body, powertrain chassis and electronics design, the selection and testing of materials and components, engine evaluation, and the tuning of the driveability characteristics of all Toyota models. PE undertake plant building construction and equipment and tooling preparation for mass production. Purchasing oversees the procurement of more than 4 billion of parts and materials each year.

R&D Chassis Group is responsible to ensure the TOYOTA and LEXUS cars chassis performance throughout complete vehicle development. Brake Department (part of Chassis Group) develops and evaluates brake systems for locally produced vehicles with European brake system suppliers. We also support problem solving activities for field quality and production parts. Furthermore we search for new technologies and trends for Chassis & Brake parts and systems.

Responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the local development of brake systems for TOYOTA vehicles which are produced in Europe.
  
• You are responsible for control brake (ABS, VSC) and foundation brake performance evaluation.
  
• You are responsible for schedule planning and execution, test result analysis, and problem solving.
  
• You drive the project together with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan.
  
• You work closely with brake system designers and external brake suppliers
  
• You propose evaluation items and schedules with designers and you organize and execute accordingly

• You have a Master Degree in Engineering, preferably Electro Mechanical, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
  
• You have minimum 2 years relevant experience in an automotive company
  
• You have a good knowledge of vehicle dynamics and testing.
  
• You are familiar with measurement equipment.
  
• You possess excellent coordination and communication skills
  
• You have a cost and Quality conscious mind
  
• You are always looking for improvement
  
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken
  
• You possess good computer skills and you are used to working with MS Office
  
• You are willing to travel regularly within Europe and are open for extended training in Japan. (up to 2 years)
