GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT FRANCE h/f

Our client is a global marketer of consumer products with 2005 sales close to $8 billion. The company is headquartered in the United States, is listed on the NYSE and employs around 30,000 people worldwide. The European organisation consists of approximately 80 operational entities throughout Europe and has a turnover of ¬1.2 billion. The European Shared Service Centre is situated in the Brabant region in the Netherlands. The ESSC employs approximately 70 people of at least 20 different nationalities and covers the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and European General Ledger activities.

GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT FRANCE (H/F)

For the G/L department of the ESSC we are looking for suitable candidates for a G/L Accountant France to extend the team that has the responsibility for month-end reporting of all European activities. The main focus of this position is timely and adequately reporting in line with US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley for all the activities in France. The G/L Accountant France will report to the European Accounting Manager.

Prepare timely and accurate location and divisional statements for local, corporate and external users

Establish business relationships with division managers, financial managers and purchasing and logistics organizations to improve the accounting processes and policies and assure that these accounting policies are in regulation with US GAAP and SOX

Maintain business relationships with other 'stake holders' of the company, including Treasury, Tax Compliance, Legal and Internal Audit to satisfy the internal and external business requirements of those functions

Review and analyse financial and operating information and make

recommendations for improvement to management

Intercompany accounting & analysis

Assure that adequate policies and procedures are in place to meet all legal and governmental reporting requirements

Prepare monthly balance sheet, P&L statement and several ad-hoc reports for multiple countries including local, corporate and SOX requirements

Prepare monthly reporting package for submission to the USA, journal entries, cash flow, necessary accruals and appropriate amortisation

Provide financial management support which includes travel to various site locations to build business relationships

Opportunities to participate in several ad-hoc projects.

Financial and/or Management Accountant with an accountancy degree or equivalent accountancy qualifications (US GAAP/SOX knowledge is a pre)

At least 2 years accounting experience (within an international or multi-subsidiary environment would be advantageous)

Confident at handling large accounts

Excellent organizational skills

Pro-active attitude with regard to possible improvements to administration

Ability to prioritise work and work to tight deadlines

A flexible team player who adapts well to new developments

Strong Communication skills with fluent French and English

Knowledge of Movex or other comparable financial packages is preferable

Meticulous nature and good attention to detail

Ability to analyse problems and recommend actionable suggestions for change

Hyperion and/or Cognos experience is a pre

Prepared to travel to other European countries when required
